DESCRIPTION
An office was originally established in Sydney as an arm to TDI in 1988.
Since its foundation TDI has been involved in the design of host of new build vehicles including four generations the iconic double deck trains for ‘Sydney Trains’ (formerly CityRail and SRA) including the iconic Tangara, 4GTs and outer suburban cars (OSCARs).
TDI has been retained for various high-speed projects such as the Brisbane-Cairns tilting trains in Queensland (Australia’s first ever high-speed line) and the Sydney-Melbourne VFT (yes the Very Fast Train)!
For these projects TDI provided design input from concept visualisation right through to full design book specification for exterior and interior aspects. The team having all round design experience and providing technical and creative input for specific areas such as passenger seating, livery and branding. Although the main focus is usually the interior and exterior design solutions one of the specialist areas TDI have been involved with is the design of train driving cabs.
Producing design layouts and reporting together with supporting scale and full-size mock-ups and ergonomic rigs used to assess the human interface. We have also produced design work for specialist vehicles for mining and emergency services.
TDI have completed a number of projects for Hyundai Rotem including:
Athens Attiko metro | Auckland metro | Philippines Metro | Singapore North East & Circle Lines | EMU Train Driver Cabin study for Hong Kong MTRC | Santiago Metro
Key customers:
State Rail Authority NSW, Alstom, PTC Melbourne, Queensland Rail, Thales, Siemens, Bombardier, KCRC (Hong Kong), MTRC (Hong Kong), Hyundai Rotem
Today TDI has a collaboration in place with TXM for design and supply projects in the region.
Our strategy is to continue to develop the TDI design presence throughout Australia, New Zealand and across South East Asia.
The TDI brand is held in high regard and this has come about with the passion for providing a dedicated service that is bespoke to each customer but calling on a wealth of experience in the Transport industry. The service now includes the design and supply of vehicles and systems to fit the rail and road markets encompassing low carbon technologies.
